Merri’s journey began with other people’s choices: given away by her mother at six; placed in foster case for a year and an unsuccessful adoption later, all led to a very sad childhood.
At eighteen, Merri decided it was time to seize control and make her own choices – bad ones. She quit school, got married and by the time she was in her mid-thirties, she was twice divorced raising four boys all on her own.
Merri needed to set a new direction. She chose teaching as her destination and dared herself to change. In spite of friends and family thinking she’d lost her mind going back to school at almost forty, she mustered up the courage, went to university and changed her life forever.
Merri Macartney, BA, B.Ed. and CPC encountered roadblocks and set-backs along the way like all of us, but with a determined spirit she discovered new horizon with hope and positivity and put her past in the rearview mirror. Now as a professional keynote speaker and author, and road warrior, she helps others do the same. She believes it’s never too late to find the courage to change the road you are on and enjoy life’s great adventure.
